CAL1

Our original iQ-LED light source is for more efficient camera characterization and calibration.

    CAL1 integrating sphere

    Product Overview

The CAL1 is a 0.3 m integrating sphere that uses iQ-LED V2 technology to illuminate a 70 mm opening for camera testing and calibration. A non-reflective diffuser filter on the sphere opening ensures a uniformity of >98%. This diffuser filter has better Lambertian characteristics than the first-generation device.

iQ-LED V2 technology is a light source that is capable of generating custom spectra to replicate various light sources in a test lab environment. The CAL1 has one iQ-LED V2 element built into the sphere and uses 20 LED channels to recreate almost any light spectrum for your camera testing.

Due to the short response time of iQ-LED V2, a full calibration can be performed in less than a second, provided the camera's image processing and transfer are fast enough.

The CAL1 uses a mini-spectrometer with a spectral range of 350–860 nm to deliver improved spectral resolution and higher sensitivity.

iQ-LED control software is provided with the CAL1. An iQ-LED API is also available as an option (sold separately) for integration into your custom design.

    Key Benefits

    iQ-LED light source

The CAL1 is an integrating sphere that uses iQ-LED technology to generate custom spectra for more accurate and flexible camera testing.

    Camera Calibrations

Calibrate a camera system in under 1 second to enable more efficient end-of-line testing.

    High uniformity

The CAL1 integrating sphere offers an illumination uniformity of >98% in the active chart area.

    Detection of defect pixels

The CAL devices are ideal for detecting defect pixels in a camera system.

    Luminance and color shading

Our CAL devices can be used to measure luminance and perform color shading measurements.

    Software and APIs

CAL1 can be controlled using the iQ-LED control software, and we also offer an iQ-LED API.

    CAL1 - Basic

As a basic setup, you can also choose to have the CAL1 delivered without a spectrometer* and instead have a device with preconfigured illuminants. These illuminants must be individually requested (up to 40) and programmed into your device before delivery.

This possibility significantly reduces the total cost of the product and is an excellent option for new or smaller test labs looking to upgrade their image quality testing.

Use Case - Measuring Spectral Sensitivity

Spectral sensitivity describes how sensitive a camera is to each wavelength in the visible spectrum. This type of sensitivity is characterized by light curves rather than single values and can thus be expressed in various units, e.g., microwatts or square meters. Using an iQ-LED device with known spectral measurements, such as those from the in situ database, enables measurement of spectral sensitivities with iQ-LED. You illuminate one channel at a time and take images of each to generate results.
