    Product Overview

    Today’s image sensors and high-dynamic-range configurations make testing at or near sensor saturation challenging. With Arcturus, we can generate more than enough intensity to challenge these sensors, with a sensitivity much higher than currently possible, making it a powerful addition to the Vega line. This device is ideal for evaluating many of the key performance indicators (KPIs) outlined in the IEEE-2020 standard for image quality performance in automotive applications. KPIs include contrast metrics such as contrast transfer accuracy (CTA), contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR), and flicker or modulated light mitigation probability (MMP).

    Arcturus can be combined with other Vega devices to create a dynamic test scene. In addition, it can be integrated into the Versatile Light System (VLS) to increase scene intensity. With this combination, you can create a real-world automotive test scene, with the Arcturus simulating direct sunlight and other high-intensity light sources, and the Vegas simulating ambient light sources (e.g., headlights, traffic lights).

    VLS-Control Software

    Control Software

    Arcturus uses the same control software as our Vega light source. This software allows you to control up to seven devices (Arcturus + Vega) at one time. APIs are also available (sold separately) for smooth integration into individual designs. We offer a C, C++, and Python API.

    We offer the Lightcube-Controller for managing Arcturus' power. This control box can power up to seven Arcturus and/or Vega devices. It can be purchased separately from the Arcturus or as part of a product package that includes the Arcturus and Lightcube-Controller.

    VLS-Evaluation software

    VLS-Evaluation

    Similar to Vega, Arcturus uses the VLS-Evaluation software to analyze the camera's performance against the KPIs defined in the IEEE-2020 standard, including CTA, MMP, and CSNR. CTA evaluations are based on pixel-value distributions. Results are exported as XML files. This software is sold separately.

    Use Case

    Simulate bright sunlight

    Automotive-grade camera systems must be tested in numerous light environments, particularly those following the newly established IEEE-2020 standard. One of the more challenging scenarios to test for is how the camera system will perform in direct, bright sunlight, as this level of intensity is often difficult to generate in a test lab. Arcturus can simulate the intensity of bright sunlight illumination with very high stability compared to other light sources. This ability allows camera systems to be evaluated in a test lab more efficiently.
